Depending on the college that high school seniors applied to, many are hearing whether they were accepted, denied, or deferred.

If you were accepted to a college you applied to, congratulations! But remember, there is still more you can do over your holiday vacation.

If you were accepted by Early Decision (binding), this is where you will be going next year. It is important to keep up your grades and don’t let “senioritis” get the best of you. In addition, it is a good idea to contact the other colleges you applied to and withdraw your application as this will open up spaces for other applicants.

If you were accepted Early Action (non-binding) to one of your top college choices, ask yourself if you can eliminate other colleges from your list. Again, since you are already admitted to one of your top choices, it is a great idea to let the other colleges know so other spots will open for other highly qualified students.

Finally, if you received Early Acceptance to an excellent college that is not your top choice, can you eliminate lesser colleges from your list?

If you were “denied,” it can definitely be heartbreaking, but don’t have any regrets. Remember that you do have other options.  Because you applied widely based on Advanced College Solutions’ programs, you have several opportunities for acceptances.

If you were “deferred,” it still means you have a chance of being admitted to that particular college, but remember that colleges defer thousands of students and only accept a small portion of those applicants. It is important to look at your college list to make sure you have a good range of other colleges. It is also vital that you submit more information to the deferred college, including your fall grades, new accomplishments, and any additional recommendations.
